LA SIESTA has an exciting weekend coming up. We are thrilled to announce the premiere of the “Mainzer Sommerlichter,” an open-air concert that will include a Word Record attempt for the Guinness Book of World Records™.
The attempt will begin on Sunday July 31 at 2:15 pm. We need 250 or more people in hammocks for thirty minutes to break the record. The world record should also reflect the diversity of the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate. Hammocks will be occupied by “Faces of the City,” who have contributed creative ideas for registering for the world record attempt. Among them are the reigning Wine Queens Josefine Schlumberger (Deutschland), Sabrina Becker (Rheinhessen), Sabrina Möhn (Mainz), and the Rheinhessen princess Kathrin Weinbach. Also included are representatives of Mainz 05 fan clubs “Liebe Leben Leidenschaft,” a five-member Messdiener legation from Schwabenheim, the team-drumming lineup “body & drums,” dancers of the “Capoeira Mainz V.V.C” and representatives of the Mainzer “Sommerschwüle.”
The event is also a fundraiser for the Kinderschutz-Zentrum Mainz (Mainz Child Protection Center).
All 250 hammocks must be occupied on Sunday and the whole community, by requirement of the Guinness World Records™, must join in a common action. Thus, the whole community will sing the well-known Mainz Fastnachtslied “Olé Fiesta am Rhein,” which has been rewritten to “Olé Siesta” to fit he occasion.
We can’t wait for the weekend! See you in the Guinness Book of World Records™!There are many ways to sit in a hammock. How many of them do you know?
